The Roc de l'Abbaye Domaine, nestled at the foot of the 'pinnacle' of Sancerre in Saint-Satur, blends a grand millennial history with the family story of the Maudry-Mollets. When the village abbey was founded in 1034, monks were already vinifying the plot, which later came into the possession of Marie-Rose Maudry, wife of Jean-Paul Mollet, in the mid-20th century. An engineer by training from Centrale, he crafted his wines with passion, brilliantly integrating land stewardship with his profession. Since 2000, his son Florian has returned to live and work on the estate. A talented winemaker with expertise acquired not only in France but also in Australia and South Africa and armed chiefly with his intimate understanding of the Silex terroir, Florian's wines have become a global benchmark.
