Welcome to the Vignobles Villebois website
Joost de Villebois’ passion for the excellence of Loire wines is deeply rooted in his personal history.
Descending from a very ancient French family that settled in the Netherlands in the 19th century, he aspires to give a centuries-old winemaking tradition greater global recognition. This wine enthusiast has created a dynamic structure representing appellations from Touraine, Quincy, Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé and Menetou-Salon with the aim of expanding the number of enthusiasts around the world.
The coat of arms of the de Villebois’ family embodies a common standard across all our vineyards, a shared code of conduct representing the values of winemaking illustrated by all its elements.
The tree flourishing within the walls represents the “ville-bois”, which translates literally to “town-wood”, as our vines grow sheltered by the ramparts of our tradition. We believe in a wine culture projected into the urban world, in perpetual dialogue with its modernity.
The wild boar symbolizes strength of character and determination. At Villebois, adversities are confronted and overcome. They are always an opportunity to reinvent ourselves. After all, isn’t the boar the only game that faces its opponent head-on?
The bee pays homage to all the creators of our wines and their association in the service of a shared commitment to excellence.
In heraldry, the bee represents a membership of the ancient royal family.

Since 2021, our approach has been aligned with the only Corporate Social Responsibility label dedicated to the wine industry: the “Vignerons engagés”
Because for us, the land, the vines, and the people form a continuous whole. We strive to respect every step of the wine creation process, from grape cultivation and harvest to vinification, bottle transportation, and tasting. We consider these links as part of a responsible whole.
We require all our winegrowing partners to practice low-input agriculture, which remains compatible with the pursuit of a scientific approach for the benefit of large productions to allow everyone access to wine.
